Poor babies, they thought Spring had begun. :(

You should blow a couple of those up and frame them, they are pretty neat photo's...

Actually it was Luke who wanted ice pics so I thought I'd try my hand at them. Too think that the rain is washing it all away now makes even more interesting to me.

cool pictures, look like the babies are doing well also. You may just have more ice then I do. Went out today and picked out some more leaves, the snow we were suppose to get didn't happen.

Well Marla the ice storm they promised didn't happen here either. Just plain rain here but north and east (waving at Terri) they got Ice.

Busy, I like my ice in a glass with a bit of scotch poured over it

Most of the covering ice on the pond is gone now. You can tell by the pic I just took what a dark and dismal day it is here.

Yesterday I took of, needed a break from the 40+ hrs I've been working the last 2 months. Of course, it was a chilly, gray day. Today it's back to work, and the sun is shinning, probably cold out there though. Don't start till 10am, so I can visit with that long lost skyward object for a little longer  , cause it'll be dark when I'm done work.

Yes its a rare day in winter when the sun shines and the day is warm enough to venture out to enjoy it. Snowing and sleeting here now, not even the dogs want to go out.

Dont be supercooling that water!! :(

Jackie Ramo
01-20-2006, 01:58 PM
Water can only be supercooled under pressure. Actually the ice caul and ice over the pond keeps the temp pretty steady. Now is the problem time when the temps are almost 50 today and will be below freezing suddenly overnight.

I'd rather have a steady layer of ice over the pond... babies are up and eating algae today.

Jeesh...
Makes me feel guilty having temps at 75 degrees here. Makes me shiver seeing all those pictures with the ice! Bundle up!

Jackie and Marla great pics! Jackie I am really impressed with your ice pics. AWESOME!

Jackie I knew I liked you for some reason. I am a scotch gal as well  See we have more in common every day!

Still the pics make me cold brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I think I will stay inside today. It is only 51 F at 8:30 am. Too cool for me. I would not be able to make it where ya'll are. I am too much of a warm blooded southern belle

 Jackie, sounds like how I vote! Have the next couple days off. Tommorrow babysiting again, I think it will be great having them this close, so I can help them out, it'll be so much better then working. We are suppose to get a cold front come through also Cinnamon, but a bit colder then your cold fronts. Glad to see you got some rain down there.

Heres a picture of ice for you Jackie.
To give you an idea of scale the first plateau of ice(about 1 inch from the water in the pic) is actually about 4 or 5 feet above the water.

Jackie Ramo
01-27-2006, 07:31 PM
Well here is more ice on my pond pics, Just because I know it makes Luke so happy knowing my butt is cold.

To show how cold it is, here is the frost on the hardy geranium that grows by the waterfall. Only bit of frost in the yard so it must get the moisture from the waterfall.

Luke today we had Florida weather, a high of 12 which is about 54F, sun shinning. Even had the sun roof on the car open. When walking the dogs we noticed that the neighbours crocus are poking up... silly plants it won't be warm for long!
