The photos below are of Goldie the yamabuki ogon. The first picture was taken 9/23/03 the second was taken 4/26/05 and is one of that we where told to put to sleep because it more than likely has a tumor. Well we chose not to take that route and kept her to see what would happen. As it stands Goldie seems to be doing well even with the swollen side and does not seem to have grown out of proportion from when Goldie was a little baby. For now we will continue monitoring Goldie and see how things look this fall. Allen

Sweet, who was Tweet's good twin, had a lump on his side for about 5 years, he died of a bacterial infection a couple of years ago. I never did cut him to see what the tumour looked like but it didn't seem to bother him.

Which one is the fish in question in the second pic? The one by your hand or the larger one behind it? The one in the back doesn't look sick from the picture...

Who told you to put it down?

Dont mention Tumours to me :( . Good on you for not listening , any fish is worth taking the time to look after, sometimes even the experts can be wrong. In my case they were not wrong, but there is always that chance that they could be. :)

Merlin often fish can live quite a long time with a tumour, some have even had surgery and had it removed... they often come back but still the fish's life is extended. I am sure Lucky had that tumour for a long time before you arrived on the scene. Your care of her is an example for us all.
