Not quite a couple of loads of compost but pretty close  Yeah you can tell the dedicated by the presents they ask for.
Mind I'd have thought the present came with the work involved to lay them out. :frisbee:

This is the rock that I got for a present last summer from DH. I believe it was either for Mothers Day or our Anniversary.
Don't mean to sound ungreatful but this is the first he brought home then all of the others started coming!

happy anniversary, so nice he remembered, even I would love that gift. I usually have to remind mine. I've given up on birthdays, the son-in-laws call and remind him of that after he forgot 5 years in a row.

No... at the prime of your life Jackie.
30 years is a wonderful accomplishment and you can even remember your first date!
Me too!
Ours was Feb. 02, 1981
I had just turned 18, 4 days before that.
(should I ADMIT that our first kiss came before our first date???)
Hey they had a b-day party for me and that was my b-day kiss from him!

Yes we celebrate the first date as well as the wedding date and the move in together date. Any excuse for a night out on th the town
He's also my second husband. Next time I'm marrying for money. The for love nonsense keeps you poor.

Thanks everyone so much! Bonnie I would have been thrilled with a rock that big! WOW! Except I don't think I would have a place to put it right now
Jackie this is my 4th shot and last one for that matter! If this one don't work out I give up  I have a feeling about this one. In another 2 years it will beat my record of the longest lasting.

I don't know Mudsow, 30th is diamond and to me that is a rock. :frisbee:
And Ozzy, those folks made the mistake of thinking money could buy happiness, happiness comes from within, not from others or money.

Well they just delivered the flagstone. All 3,380 lbs of it! WOW! Now the job of laying. I think it is time to hire some laborers

Congratulations on your special day!
Do the football/sports teams hire out there for extra fundraising money...good strong backs would come in handy right about now

Busy I don't think the football team would hire out here! I have an idea on day laborers though. They work on a blueberry farm not far from here. On the weekends they hire out to other people when they are not working the blueberries. The trees aren't ready for picking yet :)

Ozzy I am sure we will be using that Kabota on this project. He said we could use it anytime we need it! Good idea!!
Okay Allen what are YOU doing this weekend! !rofl

As a suggestion you and Heiko may want to start the first course around the pond to make sure you get the exact look you are after if you plan to have a reveal over the pond. Also use the largest pieces closest to the pond edge; this will help prevent the flagstone from pushing the sides of the pond down and into the liner. Allen

Allen thanks for the tips! I guess we get tips instead of you? j/k We are not going to have the flagstone come over the top of the edge of the pond. We are going to put big pieces close to the pond. we are going to have the river rock on top of the flagstone to the edge of the pond. That is the look we are going for. We will have to dig out around the wishing well some. I don't want it any higher than the land is right now. I am going to put a slope on it away from the pond so it won't drain into the pond. The natural slope as it stands right now is that way. The dirt around the wishing well is too high. We had intended on digging it out some but alas we didn't and started building. It is fixable though :)

Yeah Allen, thanks for the tips.
You'd be proud of the way the upflow diy filter turned out. I got the wishing well crank finished last night and it really works!
I have one stretch that we will make the "walk-way" from the bridge that I am considering running the flagstone up to the edge. I thought about getting that thick black felt material we used in lining the cinderblocks and using it under the flagstone where it meets the liner. Then again, maybe like Cinn says, use the large river rocks close to the pond's walls. Heck, so many ways it can be done that I just don't know.
It will be like assembling a giant jig-saw puzzle but I like puzzles.
As I have said before, I just want to get it right the 1st time.
I do know I need to remove the remainder of the grass from the areas the flagstone will cover. I seem to remember hearing or reading somewhere that the flagstone will settle as the grass decomposes and could cause complications down the road. I'll use the Kubota for that.
Durn... duty calls. Back to work here.
