Well i don't know how many of you are like me and use a wet/dry vac to clean the pond. One of the problems I have is I keep misplacing the darn cap that fits over the drain. Course the vac doesn't work cuz there is no vacuum without the cap on the drain. I spent considerable time looking for where I set it down, which pocket it is in or finding it in the pond, ground, plants... today I lost it altogether.

I did however trudge into the house wearing my chest waders and pic up every type and size of lid I could lay hands on that looked like it may fit. Got it on the second try. The smaller of the water bottle lids fits perfectly and its white, easy to find and better yet easy to replace if you lose the darn thing. No more hunting through the flower beds or gravel for me

Just put a pvc ball valve instead. That way you just don't need a cap

That would require plumbing knowlegde, like what a pvc, ball and valve are... never mind where to find them and how to install them  The plumbing aisle at HD gives me headaches.

Spent approx. 6 hrs shopvacing the pond. Took so long cause I would empty it in the wheelbarrel and then take it to all last years new seedlings we planted and water them. Did about a 40% water change doing this, hope it warms back up fast. It actually was warm enough to get in and move some fallen rocks. It's about 75 here what a great day to have off, hope my back's not to sore tommorrow. Will be keeping a close eye on those fish with the new water.

Marla, for me sometimes its the little things with the back not the big things. Did the pond, gardened and moved some heavy logs... no problems ecept tired. picked up Amber and twisted just the wrong way and I can hardly move today...

Still my pond and fish look so much happier with the nice water changes and a clean bottom.

I took the shop-vac to the water garden on Friday... yuck! pulled 3 dead frogs...

Seems everyone is losing frogs this year... not me, I don't have any.

AGHAGHAGHAGH, Did that nice water change, added liquid bacteria, and today I go out to the pond and my slightly tinged green water is so pea green I can hardly see the fish  , unless there mid way in the water. This is not string algae it's just green. Put in some quilt batting today. Keeping the waterfall and small bubbler pump going. Don't know if it has to do with the nice 70+ weather we've had, even the water was above 70, or something else. Is this what they call the first algae blume, and I have to be patient, which is way to hard. It scares me not being able to see the fish, hope no ones sick. Any suggestions, I know, breath I love my pond, I love my pond, I love my pond. I'll learn yet.

Marla so far no green monster for me as yet. I think the sudden warm temps help it spread. The batting will help keep it down until the pond finds its balance again.

Spring the season we look forward to... right :frisbee:
