Warming up here and the winds are dying down a bit. Still brisk but not cold.
singe digit temps and a north wind means cold to me. Frost warning again tonight. Covers will stay on the lotus pots until Tuesday for sure.

Did n't cover mine either but then the is no growth to worry about.
I was worried about the new seedlings more than anything else, although the one pot of lotus tubers that I had repotted this spring has loads of sprouts out above water so I wanted to make sure they were covered too. No problems with them this morning, no ice either so that was a nice surprise.

Yes the day has turned out quite nice just a little windy but that's OK for now, you might not have to cover things up tonight I hope.. :)
If it's cloudy tonight I won't worry about covering, if it's clear I will cover.

yesterday was not to bad nice and sunny but a bit chilly. Had a visitor to the pond, a Rose Breasted Grossbeak, was fun to watch it splash around in the falls. I have not seen one in the yard for years. Of course the batteries on the camera died before I could get a real good shot. Frost again last night and Rain coming tonight with wind for the next 3 days...YUCK

never saw one before, we use to get evening Grossbeaks here but haven't seen one around in a few years.
nice pic of the grossbeak! They are so pretty. I usually see one here once or twice a summer. I just love them, but they're not plentiful here that's for sure.

not a bad morning out there. Just saw my first oriole for the season too. Midge has decided that despite being just 56 degrees this morning, the water is perfect for her to do her third spawn this season.
The fish were hungry this morning too....need all that food to keep up with her, ha, ha.

No Orioles around here. Wish there were. Blackbirds by the millions, Sparrows and Wrens. Lots of Chickadees. A few Finches but not as many as last year. Have a pair of Cardinals with a nest along with Doves.

i"ll have to look for the Orioles, we have a nesting pair each year that raise their babies off our cherry tree. We don't mind. Saw my first baby chickadee yesterday, very very cute, peeping at the window, gone before I could get the camera out.
