Okay folks.. remember how long it took when you built your pond to get it complete?
Fill in the blanks!

Thanks for looking,
Bonnie

I should add.
Above pond has koi only- lower pond is built on a hillside and has different varieties of GF.

Also the PVC pipe that is sticking out is going to power a Antique Style Pump or a small Waterwheel.

Sorry about the seam tape showing in the Upper pond. We had so much string algae we had to scrub and it took the black coating off of it.
(this wasn't normal "pond" tape but tape which roofers, etc. use)
Once the good algae grows, it should be fairly hidden again.

:-) I love the waterfall Bonnie, and the little brook with some plants, way cool... does that flow to the bottom pond?

Keep updated photo's coming... it's great now but it's going to be beautiful when you are finished!

Thanks so much for sharing

Looks like work has been done since I last saw it. Really starting to show the final look now. It would break my heart to move from that pond.

Wow, you've come a long way since the last pics I saw. It is looking just awesome, can't imagine doing something so big. Quite the bold project but it will be sooooo nice when it's totaly complete.

Thanks for the nice compliments ladies.

Terri,
That is more an area which is going to become a veggie filter. Water flows into the area from PVC pipe and just flows back into the pond water. Gonna fill it with plants!
Actually both sides of the waterfall have an area like that. We have ball valves so we can adjust the flow as needed.
When I need to clean, just turn the valve wide open!

Here's a pix of the brook/stream area that flows to the lower pond. The DIY skimmers will be hidden by a bridge.

Jackie,
We've given up on the land deal. It's a long story but I just got exhausted mentally and physically fighting with the seller and the realtors for it.
It got to the point that it didn't seem as exciting. When I can talk about it without crying, I'll post more about it.
IF we ever move, it will be at least 5 yrs from now.
AND BTW... I told DH that the pond had to go with ME!

Marla, it has been a very long project. Either the weather didn't want to cooperate or DH would work OT, something always came up.
We will however someday soon get it complete!

(What's the story? Little Red Engine or something like that?? The little train, I think I can, I think I can...... I KNOW I can!

Bonnie, I am sorry to hear about the land deal. I'm sure you and DH would have made it as lovely as the place you have now. I do hope you got some staisfaction from the seller... One always wonders if the realestate agent is ever on their side..

How do you get the water from the stock tank to the water fall. I have a stock tank and wondered if I could place it behind my current water fall to act as a veggie filter.

That looks great Bonnie! You guys have put sooo much work into it! I remember when you were so excited about the shipment of rocks! You've put them to good use

Guess the land deal wasn't meant to be...there's more out there somewhere I spose if you ever decide to leave where your at, but to me your place looks ideal!

Bonnie some how I have been missing this thread! I am so glad I did find it this morning. You pond is totally AWESOME! So beautiful. When the plants get going it will be incredible. It is a lot bigger than our pond and we have been working on it for some 9 months on this one! I can't wait to see pics with the plants.

Very nice! What a sight to see in a backyard. Hope your enjoying the build as it looks like it would be fun putting the finishing touches on it. Looks great keep us updated through the summer.

Thanks Busy, Yep and we still have some rocks left!

Cinnamon, Actually I'm embarrassed to say that this is a pond rebuild.
Before we got the first one complete, we tore it apart and redid..... :-x
I THINK this time we did things the way we really wanted a pond to be!

Ian, thank you kindly Sir.
This has caused a few heated debates with myself and DH, unfortunately.
!bonk But luckily we're still happily married!

The pond is in our front yard.

I ran out of time while taking my last pix before it started getting dark so I took a few different views yesterday.

Thanks all,
Bonnie

(for some reason I can't direct link more than 2 pix??)

Ok, that's it, I want another pond!!! LOL (keep looking at the grass in the front yard thinking there needs to be water there!)

Bonnie, you should be able to link 10 images in one post. I'm not sure why you could only do two? For uploads it's 5.

Thanks JoJo! :frisbee: We're getting there, slowly!

Terri, I was very tired at the time and probably screwed something up.
You have grass???? Shame on ya!

Busy, Hey it's a good idea though right?
Thinking of addin' on alittle????

I "think" that DH is going to build the bridge this weekend to go over the skimmers, that should make a great improvement to the pond.

I'm still debating on mulch vs gravel.
I think it needs to be softened up a bit, even though once I get all the plants around that should make a big difference.

The plants will soften it a great deal. Mulch will have to be replaced annually... gravel is forever... well not quite but lasts longer. Mind gravelhurts when you step on it with bare feet :)

Mulch blows around where you don't want it, the grass, the pond etc. lots of plants and stepping stones is the way I'd go. Moss or low ground cover around the stones.
