Had the day off today.......was sunny, in the mid 60's......good time to 1. either work in the flower beds, or 2. start cleaning out the pond.
Well, needless to say, the flower beds are still a mess - the ground is still a little to wet to get in there and clean. So, I shop vac'd the pond (which is no small job seeing its 15' x 15' and 3.5' deep), got some dead frogs out :( .....cleaned out the waterfalls, the filters, got the TT cleaned and up and running, fixed the pump (didn't want to work - until I got mad, and dropped it, then it worked again)...and got the mechanical filter going, which got the waterfalls going again, and got a major water change done. All in all, I probably spent almost 6 hours out there working on the pond.
It still needs to be shop vac'd another time, and all the lilies brought up from the shelves and repotted and divided.....but it is so great to hear that waterfall running again. I will probably do a couple of mild PP treatments this week, hopefully all the stuff that is left will then decompose so I can shop vac again next Sunday.
My goldies were following me around, begging for some food.....but the water is still too cold for that.
I did notice that I have some babies from last falls spawn swimming around...not any bigger than an inch, which surprised me.
My ponding season is starting.............

I'm tired too.. :) Ian and I spent the day working outside. I didn't get to the water garden like I wanted to but the drainage ditch we expell the waste water to from the fish house filters was cleaned out.. gawd the smell! LOL Ian built another tank today, more room to spread the fish around now. Raked leaves, tidied the front garden up and cleaned up the side yard....

It was wonderful to be outdoors!!!!!!

Seems like we had a similar day. I cleaned the filters and skimmer, did a small vac (3rd one so far) and a major water change. Should have cut down the cattails but had to get a tree limb tied up for pick up so another day will get yet another vac and the dead plants cut down. Did get a bit of the garden debris picked up and was surprised but the number of plants coming up.

Hubby hung the new blinds and recovered the dinning room chairs. We had lunch out on the patio beside the pond. A great if tiring. Should sleep like a baby tonight but I'm not sure I'll be able to move tomorrow

Poor Tucker...are you tuckered out:frisbee:

You guys will have to quit bragging about raking, and trimming, and...

I still haven't figured out if my pond is froze solid...still all ice...maybe one of these days we'll get over 45 and it will melt faster.

Our temps were close to 80 today! We had a beautiful weekend and got alot accomplished.

Both ponds are clean and ready to go. We even got more rocks moved and cleaned and started our concrete fountain!

I've got sun poisoning though..... I guess I should be used to it by now. :-x
Gotta get more sunscreen, that seems to help somewhat.

Bonnie

BTW- while cleaning the lower goldie pond, I actually counted them as I netted them....... 58 of them Plus 4 in my back preform which makes 62!!
They'd better not breed again this year! Yeah right!

Jackie, Yes my Father is building another pond and I told him that he'd better not go and buy any GF! Hopefully he'll take about 20 of them from me!

Right now I'm embarrassed to post pix.... the ponds still aren't completed.
We're working on it though, getting closer.

Bonnie, your pond half finished is nicer than some finished. Beside my back will feel better know I'm not moving those rocks :frisbee:
