Very Very nice the colours are beautiful and full of life.
Beautiful pics Jackie. The colours are so vivid. A nice overcast day like this would be perfect for taking pics, unfortunately I can't do that from work. My water iris are just starting to bloom too, I'll have to try to take some pics of them as the sun starts going down tonight.
Is that first pic a peony? Mine have loads of buds, but none open yet. Which is a good thing considering the rain.

Cindy it is a tree peony, they bloom earlier than the herbeceaus ones, so far they have withstood the rain but... its supposed to be heavy tonight so we will see.
Nice to see the guy in the last pic stopped to smell the flowers :HAHA:

Nice pictures Jackie,.....Hmmmmmmmm seems we have lots of the same flowers. I have lots of small buds on the peonies, no where near time to open though...seem a little late. Last year for DH's Aunts funeral we picked lots of Iris, peonies and a few other things that was the first week of June, this year only a few of my iris are open nothing else close yet. My big orange poppies are blooming and the rain did a numer on them, but still lots more to open.

No poppies here and no regular poppies either. the colder spring is holding some things back but June is the big month here for blooms.

When I left work today at 4:45 it was single digits and a cold NE wind. Not looking the warmest this week and I have off on Fri. and they are calling for rain..... :banghead: I need to get my lilies divided!!!

Nice flowers Chuck. Cold start to spring here so the spring flowering stuff is at least lasting longer than normal. I should have poppies and peonies open this weekend and I had 7 water lily flowers open yesterday.

Starting to fill in very nicely Chuck. Soon you won't be able to get near the pond for plants like mine.
Cindy first water lily bloom tried to open today but then it clouded over so it will wait until tomorrow and by then I should have 2 blooms

Jackie, I told her she needs to pop in. She took a bunch of yard pics herself. Your pics are incredible!
I am planning to take my vacation in the next couple of weeks and use it to repair our pond. Also want to put a cover over our deck. That is of course.... that the pond repair is simple. I picked up 14 large wooden formal columns that were removed from our old office complex. Most are excellent. I have some sketches and want to frame it with 4x6 beams and then cover it with green metal. 'Murphy's law' is on our mailbox though so we will have to see how that goes.
We have bananas on our tree again. One of the smaller offshoots. Had a large bunch last year but the hurricane took it down. :crybaby:

Remmy nice to hear you have bananas on the tree again and you're planning to take your vacation to do some repair work around the pond but looks you will need a real vacation after all that work is done. :yup:

Had a friend come out yesterday for some pointers and I will have to do some 'boxing' reinforcements underneath the existing deck where the columns will rest. The comes the fun part.

Great pics as always Jackie. Gardens here are green but slow to flower with the cooler wet weather. Can you save me some of those poppy seeds when they are done flowering.

Yes indeed friends are a lifesaver when help is needed, my 2 friends helped me bring my boat back today and just left 18 about minutes ago, what a long day but they did get to see the pond and offered their opinion which is get rid of my koi and stock it with bass and crappies much more hardier than koi they say and dinner is only a catch away. :HAHA:

How about some trout???
You can eat carp too you know. :HAHA:
Your poppies are beautiful Jackie. My reds are no where near blooming yet, but some of the salmon coloured ones will be open by the time I get home tonight. I'll post some pics later.

Smith is making fish for dinnner - yuck but I will eat it as it is good for me.
Almost all the clematis are open now. How I love these flowers and I am always looking for another place to add a few more.

I love clematis too, I only have 3 right now, the pups killed my Jackmanni last year. That plant was over 20 years old. I have a real hard time trying to grow white or red ones for some reason. Purple, blue and pink are not a problem.
A couple of the salmon poppies have opened but the rain prevents picture taking today.

Cindy I had several tries at white ones... but this year two are blooming. I'd be surprised if the Jackamanni didn't come back, that is one hardy clematis. I cut two of mine down to the ground last fall and one has reached to top of the arbour already. Nelly Moser isn't as vigorous but she is blooming now.

I love clematis too, do they climb well on fences ?
Jackie Ramo
06-12-2009, 07:18 PM
Yes, they climb quite well depending on the type, some are scramblers rather than climbers

I bought 2 new clematis this year for the arbor near the lily pond....they are very small but I did notice a bud on each today...they are supose to be red, don't have the tag near so I don't know the name. We have purples on the back of the "she shed" and the chimmney and in the front on the pole the marten house sits on. One year a freind was driving for a nursery plant distributer, and if all the plants didn't fit on the truck they could take them, he brought me about a doz. clematis, plus other perenials. He sadly only did that job for one summer.

Too bad he's not there anymore other wise he could have saved you a bundle. :yesyes:

I love clematis one can not have too many. They are nice because different varieties bloom at different times. I whacked the heck out of the spring blooming one so no blooms this year but it is climbing vigorously up the steel screen and soon will cover it again. Lots of blossoms next year.
Here are two of my new purchases for the south bed we cleared out. Have to fix the fencing before I plant them. Not clems, rhodo's. Should lighten up the area.

Jackie you have a knack with the camera. :yup:

06-14-2009, 07:34 PM
Thanks Phil, but honestly a lot has to do with the lense on the camer and how good it is. People can take good pics but they don't look great because the camera lense isn't good. Mind, I've taken some pretty bad pics with this camera as well so the nut behind has to have some idea :HAHA:

Nice Jackie, I should get out and get some pics been to busy. The Lupines are looking fabulous this year, I have one lone pink one. Looks as if most of the seeds I planted along the "man shed" are up so that hopefully will look good this year. Next year I'll get more perenials in there.

My co-worker showed me his camera the cost over $8,000.00 was too scared to hold it wouldn't want to have to replace it if I dropped it.
Jackie Ramo
06-15-2009, 07:32 AM
Yes, some cameras cost one heck of a lot of money. Out of my range unless I decided to become a proffessional photographer. Still one can pick up a nice and good used camera for a fraction of retail. Even proffessionals do that.
Marla, you need to take some time to enjoy the garden with the camera. It really does make you stop and really look at things instead of the next project or weed awaiting attention.
philly
06-17-2009, 12:02 AM
Well I cut the lawn this morning when I got home and I do have some weed that's waiting for my attention in the back yard not the kind you smoke for you smarty pants. :)
