Good news.....my goldfish were all on top today, enjoying the sun shine  .
Bad news....I checked out my pump, and its dead. Its going to be a few weeks before I can get another one, so in the meantime, I hooked up the sump pump (electric $$$$$$), with the hose going to the bottom portion of my shop vac, filled with batting. It has to be cleaned every day....as its picking up so much algae that is in the water. The water on top is clearing some, but the bottom still looks terrible.
I have the pump sitting on the plant shelf at about 2 feet - the deepest part of the pond is 3-1/2 - 4' deep. I have noticed some dead frogs on the bottom, and I am unable to get them out (they are around some of the large boulders I have in each corner to hold down the liner - due to high ground water). The ice in the pond is all gone.
My question is......is it too early to carefully shop vac some of the bottom to get out the dead frogs and some of the dead algae.? Plus with shop vacing, I will be able to start doing some small water changes (well water - probably around the same temp as the pond water).

IMO it is never too erly to get dead things out of the pond or to do a water change. The fish will love it. Did a small vac and change the other day myself.

Thanks Jackie. Its supposed to snow on Sunday (my day off), but as long as its not snowing too hard, I figured if it was ok, it would be a good time to do it.

They are threatening snow here as well but Tomorrow.... but then say the high will be 5C... I don't know how it can snow at those temps so we will probably get rain or sleet... lovely.
