Something you never think will happen to you. I thought I smelled it last night but dismissed it as being tired. Smith has been sick all week and I've had a mild headache and have not had any energy to do anything.
This morning the smell was quite strong and noticable when I came in from looking at the fish. upstairs was even worse. I had freecycled our loveseat so when they arrrived to pick it up I asked them do you smell gas and the guy said yes I was just going to mention it to you.
Anyway not only is the fireplace giving off Carbon Monoxide but the water heater piping is leaking gas!!!! Lovely. Anyway my furnace guy is coming this afternoon to fix it all for me.
Its a bit chill will all the windows open though
OMG Jackie you and Smith are so lucky. Lets hope your guy gets in fixed right away. Hope you and Smith will be feeling better shortly. Maybe you should pick up one of those CM detecters just to be on the safe side.

Is Smith feeling better now ? Yes it's a very good idea to have a couple Carbon Monoxide detectors in the house, I will have to get some ASAP to be on the SAFE side too. I hope your gas repair guy get it fixed today for you. :-)

Bingo, my thoughts exactly! Glad the two of you are alright! Could have been a different outcome if you had been elderly!
PS: Jackie, you broke your own rule.... Not to mention Smith and gas in the same sentence - Sorry to add humor to a very serious situation... But what the heck.

The funny thing is we have a CM detector but it got unplugged when we bought the new washer and dryer and started the renovations. Never got plugged in again and my thought was this house was so old and drafty anyway CM was the last of our worries.
Steve our Gas Man (lol) is here fixing everything including the fireplace which was the source of the CM, water heater was the source of the gas.

Hope you haven't suffered any brain damage? - If you start painting tiles like a four year old, call 911

All is well. If anyone in the Toronto area needs a furnace guy or gas fitter, I highly recommend my guy Steve.
Marla, I always thought the CM monitor was a waste of money but no longer, one on every floor. Or at least on the sleeping floor.
I hope you are both feeling much better.
I would think that was a CLOSE CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take care,
Marg

Well the house smells much better and my headache has finally gone. He cleaned the fireplace for us and it burns so much better now. During construction it had been pulled out several times and apparently on the logs had fallen changing the burning pattern. I noticed it was much more yellow but thought that was the construction/drywall dust. So now it is clean and back where it is supposed to be with a nice blue flame
Gald to hear things are good once again. :)

The gas must have affected Smith as he took me furniture shopping today and didn't bat an eye at the money I spent.

Now I see clearly maybe the gas leak was not accidental but intentional so you can have your way with his wallet. :HAHA:

That is true.
Marla now is the time to buy furniture. Good sales on. Of course they items I picked out were only 20% off but the new sofa and a new dresser for the bedroom are things I have been looking for for a long time. finding the right ones doesn't matter the price so much. Now I have to wait 8 weeks for delivery.
