As some of you know I recently picked up two little Ochies in California. I've attached a photo of what they looked like when purchased. Now, two months later, they have darkened considerably... How come?? I know some of you will have the answer.
Thanks!

It's summer, what's your water temperature? Some Ochi's, Chagoi, and Soragoi will darken up through summer... warm water tends to set this change in motion. The "teller" that your Ochiba would possibly do this is the dark edging of their brown pattern.

Chiba has darkened up this summer as she always does. Although Elf is not an ochiba, but a chagoi he has also darkened and Bullet the soragoi has developed a dark netting and deep violet patches in each scale. The beauty of summer weather.

Thanks Terri!
Water temps usually runs 75 - 80 degrees F. Does this mean they will always be dark during summertime or is there a chance they may revert?
Jackie, In photos, Chiba always looks like a lighter Ochiba ??
Thanks!
