Greg do you remember Woodruff's Koi Farm in Ohio?
I contacted them and they're only a hours drive away!
Spring temps are slowing arriving so I'm going to be visiting them sometime soon.

Thanks for mentioning them.
Bonnie

Yes, I remember them, very nice folks. On the last day I was in Japan I didnt have a ride. Luckily Mark Bodycott had room in is van (I begged for a seat), and the folks from Ohio let me ride along with them. I helped Van on getting his website started http://www.woodruffskoifarm.com/ I wish I could have helped more, I was pretty busy at the time.

Heres a couple pictures. First one Van has his back turned. Next one is of the other guy from Ohio (cant remember the name)

Fugio Oomo has a great sense of humour and is such a gentleman (met him in Orlando two years ago).

Thanks for the round of pics Greg :-) Are you going to share with your Peter Waddington adventure?

More pictures and stories later. Speaking of Fugio, we were sitting around with the ohio people and someone used some slang term like "cheeky". Well fugio wanted to know what it meant, and I gave him a proper word (I cant remember the word). Anyway, we looked it up, and he shook his head and said "yes, yes". It was a very funny moment.

Marusyo. I had Fugio as him what he thought of my long hair. The breeder hold my pony tail up to the top of my head and says "top knot", like the Samuri have. There was a samuri movie playing on the TV in the background. It was very cool moment.

I don't believe I've seen all those pics! Pretty cool!

The first couple you posted...is that DOC's or spawn?...They don't spawn in those small tanks do they?

Its docs. Most of the koi were just brought indoors within days.

I posted most of those pictures on my travel log thread over at KP, however many people are now banned from there or have never been there so they might not have seen them.

Miyatora, and the Asagi that I bought (but died in the earthquake)

A tradegy with the earthquake for those poor people. How did they handle the lost Asagi? Could they replace it for you?

Greg I have drooled over your pics on KP, but hadn't seen the one of you and Waddy. What a person to get to meet. I am soooo jealous. I have never wanted to go to Japan until I saw all the pic that you posted and then read my Koi2Kichi.

Little did he know they were just stress lines, from holding your money so tightly....

I'd be holding mine too  Out of so many dealers and breeders, I'd want to see them all and then make my pick.

And to think I almost didnt get to meet Peter Waddington. Wheew that was a close one. Talk about taking charge of your own destiny.

Apparently I didn't hold on to my money tight enough. I spent double what I had planned on spending, and almost spent 4 times that much wanting to bring home koi to resell.

I don't see how you couldn't spend a bunch...like a kid in a candy store..I want that one and that one and...

Yeah, if the breeder who owned these tanks would have been home, I would have gotten a really nice lemon hariwaki. Dang... :(

Really cool pics Greg! And, well, I got to meet Peters son Tim in Orlando and just wanted to say that he was very interesting to talk to and a perfect gentelman. Was such a pleasure to meet him. :D
