Saturday, March 12th, Tom Graham from Koi USA Magazine was in Cedar Rapids. He was doing a presentation in Ames on Monday, and came up and did a presentation for our pond club.

A few of from the pond club gave him a tour of some of the ponds in the area (most were frozen over of course), and also a visit to Kloubec's Koi Farm.

The in-flight entertainment (DVD in my minivan) was Koi2Kiche CD.

Here are some photos taken at Herman's pond. Which was the only one thawed out. This pond was build in 2004 by Blade Mullinex (who owns a buisness called Hooked on Fish). This pond is 18,000 gallons (as filled with a water meter). And run by a Sequence 7200 pump.

First picture from left to right: Blade Mullinex, Jackie Alsup, Jamie Beyer, Herman, Michelle Mullinex, Tom Graham.

This pond was out back at Culvers Nursery. They also have a very large garden pond and waterfall in the front of the store, but it was still frozen over, so it wasent worth getting pictures of. Boy, I could hatch out a lot of koi fry in a pond this size

Its was kind of a mini-presentation. He spoke on his history with koi, and touched a little on koi appreciation.

Here is a link to the program that he was presenting on the Monday (as a part of) for the club in Ames Iowa:
