View Full Version : Murphys Law has kicked in
We get enough rain that I could cut the grass and the weed eater breaks. Had to get a new one. it was on sale  , get home look at the bill, and they charged me full price :banghead: . Gotta go back and get that fixed. I go to vac the pond bottom & the pond vac won't turn on. Take it apart and all looks good, don't have a clue what's up with it, have a bill for it somewhere, but can't find it :banghead: Go to open the ball valve under the deck and some critter has moved in and covered it with sand. So much sand you would think someone put it there :tantrum: . While all this is happening company shows up for the night :censored: What a day.......

.... one of our dogs ran through the house last week dripping in skunk juice :censored: , been working ever since trying to remove the odour... it's everywhere!!!!!!!! Wanna trade?
All kidding aside, hope your day ended on a more positive note.

OH MY, If that's your normal day Jackie I'm suprised you have hair left. Company was great as was the food
Hey KD, That Stinks :frisbee: Sorry to hear that.
But we have been there & done that this year already. About 4 weeks ago Mom's dog got it good, not as bad as you but bad enough. Seems to be alot of skunks around this year. We have had to close the windows many times to stop the smell from coming into the house. Takes weeks for the smell to go a way. Have you tried digging a hole and burying (sp) them yet :

Wow so much drama in this thread. My life must be boring. Rain finally stopped, sun has now been shinning for 4 days staight, lilies are blooming, fish are happy, frogs are hopping. Except for my allergies, life is good this past week, but now I probably jinked it.

Peg's bad luck has continued. Was here yesterday and I said we'd be home by 4pm. We took the grandson to see the airshow on one of the many cruise lines. Problem, show was late starting and once on the darn boat you can not get off. Boat didn't even dock until after 4:30. Poor Peg sitting in my driveway waiting for me to get home. Oh and the other thing, music is so loud on the boat I can't hear my cell even though it is sitting on the table in front of me...
With any luck at all, she won't get food poisoning from my bad cooking :frisbee:
Was great having them here.
Well I can say for sure Murphy is still hanging around. Got home tonight and the food container has holes in it from the coons and the pond had dropped a good 6". Pumps in the skimmer are half sucking air and to top it off it's now dark & raining. I guess tomorrow I'll have to shut off all the plumping and see if I can find the leak. :banghead: :banghead: On a good note, we made it to TO to see the air show, had a great time at Jackie & Smiths. Smith got up this morning and said we can't come back, he had to much fun :HAHA: Pete has become Jackie's dogs new butt cusion. Thanks again Jackie. Made it to Terri's for a good visit and spent a little money too.

I'm not hanging around iwth you anymore. I have enough bad luck without yours rubbing off.
Had a great time, come by anytime. Tell Peter the dogs miss him.
Pete said you should be careful what you say. We may just take you up on that offer
Well the pond dropped again over night to almost the same level. Iv'e topped it up and checked all the plumping. no leaks there. None at the skimmer, UV or any where in between. It's not the retro bottom drain bottom. So we have the waterfalls off to see if that's the prob. I hope that's it. That would be an easy fix. If it keeps dropping where in big DOO DOO. I don't have anything big enough to put 7 fish in if we have to drop the pond lower. This kind of :censored: shouldn't be happening on a pond 1 year old. On a good note the pond vac is working again. Think we have a outlet prob. :censored: that Murphy. It's a good thing were on holidays this week. hopefully we can find the prob before we go back to work.

Good luck Peg. Hope all goes well
Thanks Chris, It's not looking good right now. It's not the waterfalls like I hoped. Will see if to drops past the skimmer. If it does we know it's the liner. Will keep up dates comming.

Liners can be fixed. There are repair kits, silicone and other ways.
If you have to take the fish out you can then use a dye or milk to follow the leak.
Sorry, I have a small leak, think most of it is from the falls. About .5 inches a day. Guess it beats 6.

A turkey baster with milk can often find the leak. Just dribble the milk near the skimmer and see where it goes, skimmer must be off of course... no need to remove the fish. Milk won't hurt them, well a pond full might.
Tell Peter the dogs have packed their bags, Skipper is sitting here whining as no one will pick him up.
