My male Fantail named Rem has been acting odd the last 2 nights. He has stayed at the top of the water. We have not been able to figure out what he was doing. He would nip the top of the water. He does that for hours. None of the other fish do it. My husband Remmy ;) just called to let me know he was on his way home from work. I walked out on the deck to smoke a ciggie as we don't smoke in our house. All of a sudden I saw more than just Rem hitting the top of the water. Halloween was jumping and hitting the surface hard. I was discribing it to Remmy. He said he was hurrying so he could see it! He works about 27 miles from here. I kept watching and saw the reason for this behavior. There were a bunch of mosquitos at the surface of the water. Apparently Rem got a taste of one a couple nights ago and he keeps searching! Now Halloween and a couple of the others are doing the same thing. It is hillarious to watch. I told my Remmy he better hurry so he can see before dark!

Too funny. And it is funny to watch. I have a big guy that hunts bugs, seeing 24 inches come out of the water is amazing. I've seen him nabbe hornets... didn't spit it out either. :-?

Wow Jackie! I bet that is a site! When I put the others in the pond just imagine! The new ones are really smart. I have now fed them only 3 times. The know that when I remove the piece of styrofoam it is time to eat. The second time they tried to start it. But when I fed them this morning they were all at the top of the water! I believe they are learning faster than the others.

You must be using magic food, my guys hide under the filter stand and they've been in there for months now...
