I added some wild fish to my group of cold water fish. I have some what I hope are carp fry that I found when I was getting some daphnia for my fish. They are about 1/4 inch long and maybe 1/32 inch in diameter. Would be cool to have a few carp with the koi, kind of old school meets new age. :-)

I've heard of people introducing wild carp with koi to try and bring back some of the hardiness that koi have lost through inbreeding, I would certainly make sure you QT. I was after the same idea but went with a couple of magoi, which is the wild type carp that koi were derived from.

They will be in my aquarium for a couple months before going out to the pond. My koi are doing very well in the pond, even with our terrible weather.

Glad that you QT'd them. Sure sound tiny little guys.
Funny story. Long time ago a friend bred fancy guppies had a huge tank with his prize ones. When camping the kids caught two tiny catfish and wanted to keep them. Dad said ok and put them in the guppy tank, yep the big guppy tank... Busy and another week of camping. Come home and have no guppies but two huge catfish. :frisbee:

Interesting observation. Since the carp are free I decided to split them up into different evironments.
I put one group in a fry net, in the aquarium at 74F and fed them three times a day with vinegar eels. I put the second group in the bucket that I raise daphnia in at room temp. and no airation.
The ones in the daphnia bucket are noticably larger after one week. Cant wait till they are big enough for the pond.

Actually since they were born in the wild, they are big enough now :frisbee: but remember adding them is much much easier than removing them.
