Well, her black certainly isn't coming back in the big blotches she used to have, but she's developed spots. Only on one side mind you. A couple of pics of the rest of the gang too.

Do you have a picture of Ethel before she lost her black? I like your fish and your plants look like they're farther ahead than mine, I haven't got any blooms on the lilies yet. :banghead:

Thanks Jackie, I'll always love my big white whale.
Flywheel, I can't find a pic of her with her black at the moment. Probably on my other computer which has been disconnected, I really have to get around to taking the stuff off that machine. :banghead: She was never more than a mutt, but she was a black and white mutt. :HAHA:
I think having the pond covered for the winter helped the plants along a bit. The white lilly had 4 blooms open yesterday, of course the storm pounded the crap out of them, so I've got one left. The lotus has finally sent up one tiny little pad too.

I had 4 white lilies yesterday but as with you the storm battered them a bit. The blue flag is all in bloom now. A couple of years ago while thinking I was giving away another plant I gave away the clump of yellow flag :banghead:

I was at Sid's Ponds on Thursday and picked up the fibre pots to try. Not sure when I wll get the lilies I pulled out of the pond actually potted but at least I have the pots.

Ethel surely is a nice looking koi. That's the fun of owning koi. Looks like she's a Bekko now. the Sumi (black) is usually the last color to emerge. :-)

I'm happy she's at least getting some black back, spots or not. She's the fish all the little ones follow. My 4 previous little guys all followed her around the pond, and now the 3 newbies are always close to her. Too funny, they look like those ramoras that follow along the undersides of sharks.

Sids is a fair hike for you Jackie, I'm glad he had the pots for you to try. I had gotten some of those 9.99 cheapies at walmart a few weeks ago, already in a weighted mesh bag, I got a lily and a white and black iris. The koi ate whatever was in the lily bag :HAHA: . I pulled it out of the pond yesterday.

I bet the koi really enjoyed the treat :HAHA:

I have a friend in the west end and she and I try to get to a couple of nurseries and have a lunch during the season. Normally I don't have wheels so she comes east. So it was nice that for once I did the driving.

Is this the Sid's at Ninth Line just above Oakville? I have not been there yet but read his flyer last year. Is it worthwhile to go when ponding season arrives?

He's not even 5 minutes from my home not a lot of things there for ponds but lots for interlocking stuff for walkways and driveways you better off going to the one I sent you on Dundas Street. :-)

It depends on what you're going for. If you want to find some lotus or lilies, he carries them but go early if you want to get a lotus. If you're looking for fish, I wouldn't bother unless you just want some pond grade mutts. I don't care for the food he carries, but I do get my replacement UV bulbs from him. He carries a lot of laguna stuff.
He does have a garden centre there as well, but I'm spoiled where garden centres are concerned and go to Humber Nurseries simply because they carry such a huge variety of everything.

Thanks Philly and Cindy. I do most of my shopping from Trafalgar Road west but have been known to venture :frisbee: east for something special.

I am glad you put me onto the water test kit and use it every week....that is when I can get a cup into the water past the ice.
