Cover is coming off the pond tomorrow. I'll be one tired puppy this time tomorrow evening. As soon as I get home from work I'll be hooking up pumps and filters. Hubby is going to take the cover off while I'm at work and go out and get me the tubing I need to replace the existing ones, I'm not going to waste time trying to find the leaky ones, I'll just replace the whole lot. He has no idea on how to hook anything up, I don't care, big help him doing all the running around for stuff.
Then I'll be busy yanking out algae and checking on all the wet pets. I hope the old back holds out, the yard is a mess. Just like Jackie, most of my clean up is done in the spring and tomorrow is only the beginning. I don't care, I love spring. Ducks have been flying over steady the past few days, I'm afraid they're going to be a challenge to keep out of the pond this spring but I'm actually looking forward to seeing them. Remind me that I said that in a couple of weeks will you.

I hear you Cindy. Sure am looking forward to it myself. I think I should line my helper up for next week and get the trees pruned, should have been earlier.... may have to wait until after the flowers. May just go out today and harvest some flowering twigs to force inside.

Pond is iced completely right now but its thin so should thaw quick enough. I miss my fish. Good luck on the start up.

Hubby got the cover off on Wednesday and it was still a whopping 1 degree outside by the time I got home from work.
I started up the waterfall bog without changing the tubing and will just keep an eye on the water level until I can replace it all and start up the other bog on Friday. I've never had to shut the pumps down in the winter before, but the leak forced me to, I've always run at least one and one filter all winter so I'm hoping I don't have too many hiccups with the start up and the filters kicking into gear....the bog that's not running right now still has green watercress so the cover has given them a head start anyway.
Removed some algae and called it a day....too cold to play around out there and no time on Thursday evening to do anything either.
Ethel is still a mostly white fish I'm afraid, I don't believe her black is going to come back much at all now. She's by far the biggest fish....amazing how much bigger than the rest, my big white whale.
They were all happily poking around and munching on algae when I got home on Thursday. Friday is going to be an all day marathon out there.

I netted out some algae yesterday but the rain drove me in. Fish didn't even care they just zoomed in to see if I disturbed any goodies for them. Lots and lots of algae. I may lower the water level today as it is overflowing and I'm afraid its drowning my little new sumac tree.

Yeah, sumac like it high and dry. Which one did you get? I have a staghorn and a tiger eye. 3rd year for the staghorn, 2nd for the tiger eye. I love sumac.
