In light of the solution to revive my WH, I have a question about plant fertilizers and fish.
The primary ingredients in artificial fertilizers are nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). Is there a safe combination (concentration) of these chemical elements that are safe for fish while providing enough nutrients for the plants?
I read on another board about the effectiveness of Osmocote - a slow release fertilizer - for water plants. The Osmocote is applied at the bottom of a pot (without holes), it is covered with soil/sand mixture. The plant goes next with more soil/sand added, finally covered with pea gravel. The suggestion is that very little (if any) fertilizer escapes into the pond water. Has anyone tried this method?
