Just not that long ago the sun was shining and the snow was melting patches of grass were showing and even a few buds were swelling. Now it looks like this.

All we got this time around was about an inch, but the wind picked up tonight and it's getting colder, maybe if we stop talking about it it will go away just like a bad child. Who the #!%**! am I kidding :-x , Spring is 20days or more away!

I hate to tell you this BUT... we were rollerblading by the beach today and even saw people out on the lake in their boats. After blading we had lunch on the beach....it was so nice ... wish you were here

Sorry...i just COULDN'T resist. As long as the crapy weather is in the East, it will be nice here. The second you guys warm up...we're in trouble....i swear to God that's how it works. This past winter you guys were warm and we were in a blizzard and -30....then it was the oposite.

I'll enjoy the nice weather now because i just have this little feeling that the day i rent a sod remover it will start to snow.

Dayleen I imagine the daffodils are coming up there. I love Vancouver in the springtime. Before we became house poor we would go there this time of year for an early spring. Walking in Stanley Park and yes going to the beach for lunch... the good old days.

Dayleen...are you close enough for me to hit you?

Dayleen
03-02-2005, 11:33 AM
Jackie....some things are starting to pop up. Forsythia looks like it will bloom soon. Vancouver is way ahead of us, probably almost a month (plant growth wise) And yes, Stanley Park is beautiful.

I can't believe you guys got another dump of snow....that really bites. I'm really starting to dislike winter time....maybe it's the getting older that makes winters seem worse....used to love it as a kid.

Hey Busy !! Sorry....i just couldn't resist. My husband and i were looking at the lake yesterday and it was so calm, just like glass. The sky and water were so blue....it truly was awesome and makes you appreciate where you live.

You get used to seeing the beauty everyday that you don't notice it as much. It seems strange sometimes when you think that people will save all year to come here for their holidays and here we are....blessed with it everyday. Weird when i save all year to go somewhere else ...LOL

I have been to Alaska many a time as a girl in the Yukon....it's pretty awesome as well. Your pictures are just fantastic by the way!! When do people really start getting out in their gardens there? Must be a pretty short season.

I remember you saying you were a girl of the Yukon...were you raised here?

My bro lives in Vancouver and is always bragging on the weather..I'm to the point where the cold just irritates me:-x And I can relate about being around the beauty all the time and taking it for granted...kinda like the destination is more important than the trip (whose got that signature) Forget sometimes what's around me ,when I should be appreciating it more!dude

And yes...short season...End of May to Oct. Better than nothing tho...except all that daylight means you have really long days and by winter, it's time to sleep..just to catch up!

Actually I've been to Kelowna, had dinner at a wonderful Inn right on the lake, food was fanastic. I remember getting fogged to a white wall on the big highway, we were the only car, found out once we got there the highway had been closed :-?

Busy,

End of May isn't too bad i guess, could be worse. I was born in Whitehorse and i think being in that climate sort of conditioned me in life. I just don't get cold. It's the heat i have a harder time with. We get that humid heat....kills you by the end of the day. Been to Vegas and Phoenix when it's 120 and it doesn't seem that hot, but it's dry so not as bad.

Where in Alaska are you? The biggest thing that really sticks with me from being up north is it's either always light out or always dark.  That and the sourdough and gold nugget jewelry....still have my gold nugget baby ring.

Jackie,

Kelowna is great, not to big and not too small. Is growing like crazy though and they say it's only second to Vancouver for housing sales and increases.

Glad we got our acreage last year when we did....we already couldn't afford to re-buy it....scary !!

If your ever this way, i hope you'll give me a heads up....i'd love to meet you and show you the town. I have never been to Toronto, though have lots of family in the area...and hey... Mike Holmes lives there so can't be too bad ... LOL.

I know Picov's is away from you (and isn't there anymore) but did you ever go there ?

Jackie Ramo
03-02-2005, 03:19 PM
Yes, Picov's is gone. I got Tweet and the rest of his brood there. Another place Vandermeers has quickly filled the gap left by Picov's and then some. Although their fish prices are a little out of my leque being a mutter and all but the nurseries.... I can save more than the gas money buying just one big plant.

Yeah <sigh> Mike Holmes... see we watch the same tv

I'm on the Kenai Peninsula..Whitehorse huh..drove thru there on the way here..

The nuggets are the rage but I prefer Black hills gold..Them big honking things hanging on a neck is a little much..

Cold/Hot...I want middle of the road..say 70

Jackie....Mike was just here at our home show and i went to see him with the hubby who also thinks he's great. When he came to do his presentation i yelled out "we love you Mike" he looked at me with this cute grin on his face and mouthed "thanks" ...he looked a little pink but seemed to really like it. Of course my husband had dared me to do it....i always win a dare...lol

Nothing wrong with pond mutts....i love mine too!!!

Dayleen

Busy.....yup, them nuggest can get big. Not as cheap as they were when i was there....but then....Whitehorse didn't seem very big to me either.

Anything between 70-80 is just perfect...i agree. I bet your area is just stunning!!

Oddly enough t was spring like here as well. Sunny and warm, well above freezing. Today its supposed to be warmer than yesterday but because it is cloudy, it doesn't feel as warm.

Both doggies had their coats on for their walk 8-)

Hey no fair. Its supposed to be warm here and its not you northern people sent all your cold this way.. Normal for today would have been lows in the 50s and highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. Woke up to 27 brrr and got up to 48 too cold and I do not like it. I did not move south for nothing. Maybe I did not move south enough.

!welcome You confused me MK I know you've been registered for a while but welcome anyway.

I've been working on garden design all day and looking outside has totally depressed me. Normally I start doing this when the grass is showing. Right now I have an all white lawn and fish under ice.

Thanks jackie. I figured I would start posting here considering the other site is down and I should stay away considering I came home in a bad mood and was ready to play not so nice with the 20 year old that acts like a 3 year old. Think REC actually meant that nice manners post about some of the things I have said.

Jackie Ramo

I haven't been able to get on so I missed the post but I am sure REC means everything he says !wow!

Glad to have you active here, make yourself at home.
