Well I was gone for a while, tried to log in and the forum gave me the run around...I think i am back now ;) Any how...on to my question.

I cleaned out my filters in the ver beginning of spring, water went clear for about 1 week now its a green soupy mess again. I cleaned out the filters and this time no change. Any suggestions? I have ordered new filter media, when it gets here I am going to break down the whole biofilter wash it out with water only of course and lay in new media. I was thinking about adding a layer of charcoal to the bottom? any one ever do that?

Any how...would appreciate any suggestions...right now its all just starting to bloom and grow and look nice except now I can't see my fish :o

Well, your fish won't mind too much....

GW is typical this time of year, the pond is trying to gain balance again, some things wake up sooner than other's. Small partial water change outs and keeping your MECHANICAL filter medium clean will do wonders,.... large change outs and scrubbing everything makes things worse,... or so I've found. Save some of your old bio media to mix up with the new... or you'll be cycling the pond again ;) then the GW will never go away (unless you get a UVC).

Welcome back :)

Hey Flutter!

Have you tried quilt batting to grab some of those fines/green crap?

Hey Flutter!

I have about three layers of filtering material in my filter. Very fine batting type stuff with a green liner on one side. Over the past few days the pond has gotten so dense with algea I can no longer even see the fish. It's also comming out of the water feature green. Any ideas?
Is there something I can add to the water that won't kill my plants and fish? but will knock out some of the agea? Does that stuff at home depot work? Or is there something online I can order? Please help! Thanks
