Merlin makes note " Must check instructions on three year old camera, so that he can take such great photo's too " Come on be honest, how many of you check the instructions. :frisbee: I have a great camera, but still do not know how to use it to it's full potential. :-(

Hey that happens here to Jackie....
On this subject, I have read in several places that to get good koi pics you need to use the macro function on your camera. Well what is a macro function and how do you know if you have one?

On most cameras its the little flower icon, lets you get in a focus closer than the regular setting.

He is a toy poodle. 8 months old and ACA papered. His Dad was a red and mom was cream. He is the same color as my Golden Retriever. I was going to breed him, but changed my mind as aparently this ACA is new and all the poodles listed with them, except for Rusty and his parents are all pet shop poodles. So tomorrow morning he is getting neutered. I haven't ever had a dog like this one. He has an attitude. I love it. :backon:

Most definately Macro ! These pic's are done in the dark and manual focus for the distance that I will hold the camera to the koi. If you are stuck with auto focus have a light by the side of the pond that your camera will focus to, by depressing the shutter button half way down. Most cameras beep when the auto focus has worked when button is half way down. Yes there is a half way down on the camera shutter button. This lets the camera know when your going to take a picture and auto focus goes into action. The beep or tone lets you know when it is done and the final push of the shutter button takes the picture. So by holding the button in the light half way down at the distance the koi will be, the camera will auto focus and the final push of the button will be at the koi in the dark.

Wrong song Busy, Think dangle ballsin a low riding car and brass horns
Take a little trip with meeee

Both mine are toy poodles and Amber who your's reminds me of is 16 years old now, so I hope you are looking forward to a long relationship ;) She is blind, 90% deaf and has doggie demintia but truly a wonderful dog even now. People are amazed at how she finds herself around the house and how well she interacts with people.

Here she is in her favourite place, and yes, the ball is hers and yes she still plays with it.

Ron if your camera has Macro mode, flowers make good practise. It can be tricky focusing in macro, even in natural light. This shot was done in macro with a lens to target distance of about 4 to 6 inches .

Here's a surprise that arrived in the greenhouse today, good job he wasn't outside... after this pic he flew off. I hope his wing straightens out.
